In 2012 the Hermitage Golf Course owner, Mike Eller, was playing Whistling Straits on his annual golfing trip with his friends. As he was coming down #13 fairway, he heard the distant ringing of a cow bell. He looked around him and saw a herd of sheep coming from behind. He was awestruck and in that moment he decided Scottish Blackface sheep could also call Hermitage Golf Course "home." What started with 12 ewes and 1 ram have now grown to more than 45. These friendly sheep roam the course year round and if you're lucky enough, you may find yourself right beside the herd.
