Mike Eller – Owner/Operator, Hermitage Golf Course

Mike’s began his career in golf as an Assistant Golf Professional at Old Hickory Golf Club, Old Hickory, TN and then Head Professional at Old Hickory. Mike has been an owner/operator, with his partner Ray Danner, of daily fee/ public access golf courses since 1985 including Hermitage Golf Course, Old Hickory, TN (1989 to current), Willow Creek Golf Course, Greenville, SC (1996-1999), and Stonebridge Golf Course, Germantown, TN (1988-1996). Mike has assisted in course design, routing, and building of his own new President’s Reserve Course, which opened in 2001, and also assisted in the design of St. Andrew’s Bay, Scotland with Denis Griffiths Golf Architects

Mike has been active in the golf operation and management business for over 30 years also serving in a variety of PGA capacities: Chapter President, as a Board member, and past Tennessee President of the PGA. Mike has spoken at Chapter meetings across the state on numerous occasions especially regarding the Growing the Game and the PGA’s program development. Mike assisted in initiating the Grow the Game Program in the Tennessee PGA section, also represents Tennessee at the National 20/20 Conference. In 1993, Mike Eller’s family was awarded the Jack Nicklaus Award by the National Golf Foundation. This recognition was earned because of the total family involvement in a multitude of golf areas: club professionals, course ownership, PGA Board memberships, sectional Board memberships, and tournament play successes.

Mike is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he played on the University golf team. He and his wife, Barbara, live in Old Hickory, TN

President’s Reserve Recognized as One of the Top 10 in Tennessee

The President’s Reserve, designed by architect Denis Griffiths (designer Atlanta’s Chateau Élan Resort Courses), trails through 300 acres of natural Tennessee wetlands and along the banks of the beautiful Cumberland River.
