Nelson & Anessia Griffin

Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Griffin
September 19, 2009

They say that when it rains on your wedding day it is good luck.  If that is the case, Nelson and Anessia will be blessed for MANY years to come.  The rain decided it had set in and it wasn't leaving.

Not to worry - the ceremony was still beautiful in the Celebration Garden and the reception was rockin' in the Tilted Palm Pavilion.  I was so blessed to get to know this couple and their families in planning their wonderful day.  Anessia was absolutely breathtaking and Nelson was so handsome!

The ceremony was complete with a sand ceremony and "jumping of the broom".  Nelson and Anessia quickly had a private meal and then we headed out for pictures.  After dodging raindrops on the President's Reserve Golf Course, we found a dry spot at the barn.

We headed back to the reception where Nelson and Anessia were greeted by happy guests ready to celebrate with this wonderful couple!  After the formalities of the garter toss and bouquet toss, Anessia changed into her "party" dress and the dancing began!

What an amazing couple, with wonderful friends and family celebrating with them!  Their send off was through a tunnel of bubbles and off to Jamacia they  headed!  Bill and I fully expect to see you at the Titans games!!!

Wonderful Wedding Weekend

Wow!  What a whirlwind weekend!  A wedding with a reception on Saturday and a reception on Sunday.   I had the great pleasure of working with some amazing vendors this weekend!  I witnessed magic performed by mere mortals and have a new appreciation of the pace of hot glue drying!

I love being a small part of a team that makes a wedding day what a couple envisions!  Every weekend solidifies why I do what I do.   There can be challenges, but at the end of the day... there's a wedding... a bride... a groom - who love each other and want to share this day with the people who they love and love them!

I have to give kudos to all of the wonderful people who make my job so easy at the Hermitage Golf Course.  From the starters who get our golf carts ready for photos to the pro shop folks who gives directions to new guests, the grounds staff who keep things looking PERFECT, the chefs and their staff who prepare the most amazing food I have ever tasted!  They are the ones that work behind the scenes to make everything perfect - THANK YOU!

Bill is my biggest cheerleader - his mantra is "a happy wife makes a happy home" so he patiently listens to me talk about lace, veils, flowers, centerpieces, the perfect photo, the "cutest" shoes, precious flower girls and ring bearers, funny toasts and yummy cake!  He laughs at me as I call him on the way home.... "so did you get married again?" he asks?  "Yes", I say... "just without the honeymoon!"

Until next week - have a wonderful week and happy planning!

Mr. & Mrs. Wendall Wood

Mr. & Mrs. Wendall Wood, September 5, 2009

Megan Ratka and Wendall Wood were married at Hermitage Golf Course on Saturday afternoon September 5, 2009.  What a beautiful day and a fabulous couple!  I began working with Megan and Wendall in May in planning for their wedding day.  I was so excited when they asked me to coordinate their wedding!  I have gotten to know them and their families so well, that it was like being at my own family's wedding!  Wendall's mother, Donna and I are already planning their return trip to Nashville!

Their wedding weekend began on Friday evening with rehearsal practice in the Celebration Garden.  Family and friends arrived from Alabama and Ohio.  We had so much fun during rehearsal - everyone catching up - then dinner started without anyone missing a beat!

Saturday morning began with the boys playing golf - and the groom's mother, Donna, getting some great shots of them on the General's Retreat.  After her departure, our work started on set up for the wedding, cocktail hour and reception.

Megan chose black and white table linens with beautiful venice black and white runners, red linen napkins and red chair ties.  The china was white square plates with beautiful flatware and stemware.  Her flowers were unbelievable by The Enchanted Florist!  The room was breathtaking!

The Celebration Garden was decorated with our white chairs and beautiful white columns that Megan and Wendall chose.  At the end of their ceremony, they met with their family and bridal party for pictures and then we headed to the President's Reserve for some beautiful photos while their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour.  The photo above was taken on the bridge that approaches the 9th green.  Adwina Christine did an outstanding job at capturing a very special moment!

Instead of a "send off", the couple was welcomed to their reception through a tunnel of guests blowing bubbles as they arrived on a golfcart.   A wonderful dinner was served n the Two Rivers Ford Banquet Room.  As dinner came to an end, guests were invited into the Tilted Palm Pavilon  to enjoy the cutting of their cake, which was a beautiful white 3 tiered buttercream (yummy!) cake by Cakes by Rebecca, followed by a very sweet toast from the groom's brother, TJ.  The bride and groom then had their traditional first dance followed by the father/daughter and mother/son dance.  It never matters how many times I watch, I still cry!

The DJ, Rick Ryan was PERFECT for this group!  As the night went on, he took candid photos of guests at the reception which he projected onto a screen for all guests to see!  FANTASTIC!  He also had a "text to" phone number for requests which remained on the screen the entire time - so shy guests could dedicate and request songs throughout the night.  He had someone dancing at all times during the night!  Even the Ohio State fans were on the floor... I never knew the tie to "Hang on Sloopy" by the McCoys - learned something new!

Where was Bill?  .....Bill had gotten up early Saturday morning.  Dove season is in and he was in the field before dawn.  So... no surprise that he was out like a light when I got home!  Of course I filled him in on Sunday morning of the entire day!  He just smiles at me and tells me how happy HE is that I'm having so much fun!  Oh, and he can't wait to meet Donna!
