Hi! My name is Kara Torphy. I am the Wedding and Event Coordinator for Hermitage Golf course. This is my first "blog" experience and I am so excited to share with everyone our amazing location! I believe we are the best kept secret! I am still amazed at how beautiful it is here!
A little about me....
I moved to Tennessee in June of 2007. My now husband, Bill Torphy, asked me to pick up my roots and move from Bloomington, Indiana to share his life with him in Tennessee. What a wonderful decision I made! The following March, Bill proposed to me by giving me a set of golf clubs. Just for the record, I had never picked up a club before that day except to move his out of the way in the garage! The ring was in the bag - what a surprise! As we planned our big day, it was only fitting when we decided on the Hermitage Golf Course. The Rose Garden was beautiful - roses in bloom - the ornimental grasses were beautiful - this was the perfect place for our wedding!
Because the majority of our family and friends live out of state, trying to get everyone together at one time was a challenge. We settled on a Sunday in July. It started as a small wedding... 75 - 80 guests, nothing too large, but it quickly grew, as most weddings do! We ended up with 145 guests. We got married at 11:30 and had a brunch following our ceremony and a somewhat quick reception since we had a golf scramble for our guests. It was an amazing day! A dream day for me!
I was given an amazing opportunity in May 2009 to be the Wedding and Event Coordinator for Hermitage Golf Course. As the Wedding and Event Coordinator, I want everyone to have the same experience I had! The staff was amazing and made my guests feel like family. I still hear how amazing the food was and how beautiful the venue is and how friendly everyone was.
I come to work being excited to be here and leave feeling like I am assisting in being a part of so many special days. Weddings, receptions, reunions, anniversary parties, birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers and even grooms events.
